After picking up our traveling companions, we heading south through the rainy night to arrive at New Orleans around 8am. Our hotel was waiting for us and we quickly got checked in and registered for the gathering. After registration it was off to do a little exploring of New Orleans, including a trip by some of us to the RiverWalk to see the Mississippi...

and also to grab some lunch at a local deli (both Brooke and Pastor Erik enjoyed the Oyster salad, Amanda and Kayla weren't so sure but they enjoyed their cheeseburgers)...

Our evening concluded with an inspiring program in the Superdome with the other 37,000 folks who have joined us for this event. We heard great music and inspiring stories about how young people of faith can truly make a difference in the world if they trust God has truly called them to serve in baptism.

Overall a really good start to our trip (other than the dinner mishaps this evening). The youth handled a long night in the bus well, and the lack of a concise dinner plan, they even didn't complain about the 5:30am breakfast stop (well not too much complaining). We are glad to hear that Kevin is home safely for at least a short time, Kayla certainly sends her greetings. And we look forward to spending Zach's birthday tomorrow working hard serving God and our neighbors here in New Orleans and enjoying each other and this time we have together.
Now it is off to bed!!!
Hey!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog and the photos. Hi to all, and hope you are having a very good time! We are eager to hear more news about your days. Is it really hot working outside, etc?? Also, Parker and Trev (p's too) want to know how it felt the first time you were all together in the Superdome.
